A NEW art gallery has opened in Bridport.
Dorset artist Howard Flanagan has opened the doors to Art Unlimited at 15 South Street, a welcome addition to Bridport’s vibrant art scene.
Art Unlimited will focus on a range of art genres and will feature works by local and national artists as well as some from the US, Germany and New Zealand, many of whom do not exhibit work elsewhere in the world. UK. There will be works in 2D and 3D formats and materials from emerging artists to present their work to the public, often for the first time.
Art Unlimited will be split into two – the first a retail section where selected works will be exhibited and sold and the second a gallery which will form an exhibition space where a single artist or a group of artists can show their work during a limited period.
The gallery will also include works by Mr. Flanagan, who became known for his large, intricately detailed paintings. In 2017 he was a finalist for The Sunday Time Watercolourist of the Year. He had solo exhibitions in Liverpool and at The Malthouse and Courtyard Galleries in Lyme Regis, which earned him membership in the International Guild of Realism.
For Mr. Flanagan, Art Unlimited is about bringing this exciting project to fruition: “I have long had the ambition to open my own gallery and have been planning this for three years,” he said.
“Now that we are emerging from the dark days of Covid lockdowns, the time seems right to launch this new venture.”
He added: “I really want to work closely with the local community to ensure that as many people as possible can engage with the many art forms.
“I hope it will inspire people to think about the art and beauty of nature and inspire their own creativity.”
